Akilignouma

Biography

AkiliGnouma is an Afro-Mandingo music group that blends and mixes Afro-beat, blues, reggae and traditional Mandingo music. To understand the genesis of the group, we must return to the footsteps of Yacouba Barro from his hometown of Nouna on the border of Mali, to the capital of Ouagadougou via Bobo-Dioulasso. Coming from a family of Daffin griots, Le Griot à la Bouche Noire, he is supported by the famous percussionist Adama Dramé who introduces him to percussion and traditional instruments. In the streets of Ouaga armed with his n’goni, he sings his songs and takes with him all the musicians “Akilignouma in time” (Akiligouma means Good Spirit in Dioula), where the daily galley clashes with force and smile.
